In November of 2000, about fourteen people met in the home of Pastors Milton and Cinda Herring to pray and seek God about planting a church in Torrance, CA. The growing regular prayer meetings evolved into prayer and Bible Study.

During this time of intense prayer, Pastors Milton and Cinda Herring became fully convinced that it was both God’s will and timing to plant a non-denominational, multicultural, word of faith, spirit-filled church in the city of Torrance, CA. The vision was to begin in Torrance and expand to the South Bay and Southern California. On December 9, 2000, Pastor Milton stated that he was forming a core group for a new church.

Another Bible study and prayer meeting was held on December 31st, New Year’s Eve, for direction and guidance. Weekly prayer meetings and Bible Study continued at the Herring’s home.

On February 11, 2001, the Living Word Christian Church began holding Sunday worship services at the Torrance Plaza Hotel in Torrance, CA. Mid-week Bible studies continued at the Herring’s home. The Lord added to the church and there was growth spiritually, numerically and financially.

The church relocated in January of 2002 to 4040 Spencer Street in Torrance, CA. Pastor Cinda left the private sector workforce to become full-time Executive Pastor (with no salary), while Pastor Milton continued to work part-time as a Chaplain with the VA Medical Center and the US Army Reserves.

In the summer of 2002, God lead Pastor Milton to set his sights on reaching the world. With this in mind, the name was changed to Living Word Christian Church International. The vision is “Nations reaching nations with the love of Jesus Christ and changing lives by teaching the word of God.” The church continues to increase in every area.
